Overview of the breed

Known for its high intelligence, playful nature, and versatile, low-shedding coat that can range from wavy to curly. These adaptable dogs bond closely with their families and require regular physical activity and mental stimulation to prevent boredom-induced destructive behaviors. With consistent positive reinforcement and early socialization, Aussiedoodles make excellent, trainable companions and can even excel as therapy dogs.

Temperament

Affectionate, intelligent, playful, and friendly. They form strong bonds with their families and can be protective. Highly intelligent and eager to please, making them easy to train with positive reinforcement methods.

Ideal Homes/lifestyles

High-energy dogs inherited from both parents, they need significant daily exercise and playtime. Adaptable to various living situations and can be trained for various tasks, including agility and therapy work.

Grooming needs

Can be curly, wavy, or a mix of both, often inheriting the Poodle's low-shedding traits.  These dogs will need daily brushing, and a trip to the groomer every 6-8 weeks.

Mini Goldendoodles

Overview of the breed

Prized for its friendly, intelligent, and adaptable nature, often with low-shedding, wavy or curly coats suitable for people with allergies. These dogs are active, love to be part of a family, and thrive with consistent, positive, reward-based training. They come in various sizes and coat colors and are generally healthy, but they do require significant grooming, daily exercise, and mental stimulation to prevent boredom and potential behavioral problems.

Temperament

Goldendoodles are known for being friendly, outgoing, loyal, and eager to please. They are generally good with children and other pets when properly socialized. Both parent breeds are highly intelligent, making Goldendoodles quick learners. However, their intelligence means they can also pick up bad habits quickly, so consistent, reward-based training from an early age is crucial.

Ideal Homes/lifestyles

Goldendoodles are an active breed that needs regular exercise and mental challenges to stay happy and healthy. Often used as therapy or service dogs, Goldendoodles are highly affectionate and consider themselves part of the family, preferring to be involved in their family's activities.

Grooming needs

They can have a range of coat types (straight, wavy or curly). Their coats, especially the wavy or curly varieties, require regular brushing and grooming to prevent mats and tangles. Plan on daily brushing, with groomer trips every 6-8 weeks.
